Winter Spice Scrub

Yield : 1 cup

I know — spring is just around the corner, and it’s almost too late to write about this sugar scrub. However, I live in Canada. CANADA! Which means that even though the official start of spring is March 20th, we’re still weeks away from it feeling or looking like spring.

That said, this Winter Spice Scrub is the perfect primer for spring weather. The coarseness of sugar exfoliates any built-up dead skin and leaves your body smooth and polished. Mixing an oil into your exfoliant also helps to moisturize and soothe your skin simultaneously. I like apricot oil because it’s a light oil that’s great at softening skin. (And what skin doesn’t need some serious lovin’ by the end of winter?)

The spices and essential oils are what give this scrub it’s name. Together they create a comforting aroma of warming winter spices. Also, it smells a lot like ginger cookies.

  • 1 cup organic golden cane sugar or organic brown sugar

  • 1/4 + 1/8 cup apricot oil

  • 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1.5 tsp ground ginger

  • 10 drops nutmeg essential oil*

  • 10 drops clove essential oil**

*Do not use if you are pregnant.

*Do not use if you are pregnant or have sensitive skin.

  • In a bowl, mix the sugar, apricot oil and spices with a spoon until everything is blended and is the texture of damp sand. Add the essential oils and stir them into the mixture..

  • Spoon the scrub into a jar and seal.

  • Label and date.

How To Use

  • In the shower or bath, apply the scrub to damp skin by rubbing it all over your body. Rinse off.

  • When out of the shower/bath, butter that body up with a rich moisturizer or body balm for super soft skin.
